In the book, Katniss believes that Rue finally began to trust her. But was that really true? What if Rue wasn't really Katniss's partner? As you know, Rue was killed by a fellow tribute. What if she made an alliance with the tribute that killed her, but then he turned on her and killed her?

Of the motives behind Cinna's artificial Flames.
One question I had written for group discussion after reflecting on the Hunger Games was whether Cinna considered Katniss's personality when he constructed her costumes and, in a sense, reputation. Did he see a flame in her heart when she protected Primrose at the Reaping? As fire destroys much, but can rescue life, as well as protect, warm and soothe it, did the designers, or, for that matter, the Gamemakers, look to Katniss as she was depicted in the "blazing" gowns? And if she was indeed more like a tongue of pure fire, was it that symbolization that caused Rue to, in essence, give to Katniss what had been given to Prim, in the terms of a life both in itself and in the light of something to live for? If not, what else drew Rue, and, I suppose, Peeta, to love and appreciate Katniss as all sources of heat are adored in frigid times?

Question
If you are in the Hunger Games would you use Katniss stratgy or would you go look for and kill other contestents like the Careers.
Flaming Clothes
Why hadn't anyone else thought of flaming clothes before? Did they just not think it would work?
Peeta and Katniss
Does Peeta really like Katniss or is he just setting a trap for Katniss to fall into so that he can win the Hunger Games? Is Katniss going to fall into the trap if it is one?
Hunger games?
why was Katniss so mad at the gamemakers during her lesson and why was she so mad that she shot an arrow towards them?

Peeta and Katniss
Did Peeta really mean it when he told Katniss that the whole "liking her a lot" stunt at the televised interviews was just a way to get ahead in the audience's eyes or does he actually like her and he was just too scared or embarrassed to admit it?

The Idea Behind THE GIRL ON FIRE?
What is the real reason behind Cinna's idea to make Katniss the girl on fire? To me, Cinna seems like a real mastermind for winning the audience over just from Katniss's outfits. But isn't strange how they only wanted Katniss to be remembered as "the girl on fire"? What about Peeta?

Peeta
Does Peeta have a strategy behind him tell Katniss he liked her , right before the games started?

The death of the Lynx, and how it reflects upon its huntress:
It was mentioned, before the introduction to the Games at two o'clock on the reaping day, that Katniss had once had a friend, of sorts, that took the form of a lynx. I understand her motives in killing the fairly innocent creature, but I'm wondering what its death shows about Katniss's character. At times she seems entirely emotional and protective, especially when with her mother, Gale or Prim, though at others, such as in the forest with the trailing lynx, she appears to be completely merciless and brutal. Does she have a tendency to take the protection of her heart and those in it to the extreme that, if even the slightest trace of a threat passes by, she will destroy it with excessive sense and instinct? And, if this is agreed upon, how does she reflect upon the Capitol? In short, what twisted tools have the Capitol given Katniss through their cruelty?
Peeta's and Katniss' realationship
Is Peeta trying to confuse Katniss by being nice, mean, then nice again? I think that it kinda makes the book a little bit confusing because of that.

Cinna & Portia and Capitol Supplies
Why is Cinna Katniss's stylist and why is Portia Peeta's stylist? Since Cinna is a male shouldn't he be Peeta's stylist, and shouldn't Portia be Katniss's stylist since she's female? Also, why does the Capitol have more supplies and power than all of the other districts?
Peeta and the Careers
Why do the career tributes so easily accept Peeta into their group? It seems like they would be suspicious of his motives. Maybe they're just so confident that they could kill him if things went wrong for them?
