Did Peeta really mean it when he told Katniss that the whole "liking her a lot" stunt at the televised interviews was just a way to get ahead in the audience's eyes or does he actually like her and he was just too scared or embarrassed to admit it?

I think he meant it because he had a lot of oppertunities to kill her, but he didn't. -star
